Caitlyn & John | Frontier Culture Museum Wedding | Staunton, VA

We’ve Known Caitlyn and John for quite some time now and have seen them at a few of our past weddings. We photographed John’s brother’s wedding in the Outer Banks and also their good friends Megan & Spencer’s wedding. So when they asked us to photograph their Frontier Culture Museum wedding, we couldn’t pass it up! Our day started out at the Comfort Inn in Staunton, Virginia where John and groomsmen/brothers were getting ready. After leaving the guys we ventured over to a cute historical home located in Stuanton that Caitlyn and her family had rented for the week. As we pulled into the driveway, the girls were just arriving from getting their hair and makeup done at Body Essence & L’Idée Medispa. The home where Caitlyn and here bridesmaids were getting ready couldn’t have been a better location for pre-pics along with a first look with her dad.

Once we were done photographing the girls getting ready we made our way over to the Frontier Culture Museum where all ceremony and reception setup was coming to a completion. Ethel Seith provided all of the beautiful drapery for the reception space. Caitlyn and John opted to do a first look, which we absolutely love when couples do! First looks are amazing because it’s a time that the bride and groom can enjoy each others company before the day starts to unfold. With this first look we managed to get several photos of the couple, wedding party, and family all done before the ceremony. This meant that as soon as the ceremony was complete the family and wedding party could go and enjoy the reception.

Caitlyn and John added several custom details to the ceremony, from the beautiful hand made arbor to the elegant programs. The couples intimate ceremony went perfect including the songs played and sung by family and friends. John’s dad did a wonderful job with the ceremony, we also enjoyed several of his jokes throughout the day 🙂 The best part about Frontier Culture Museum Weddings are the endless photo locations, literally new scenes and backdrops around every corner! It’s truly a photographers dream!

The great ladies at Divine Events did a fabulous job running the show and making sure that everything came together and ran smoothly throughout the day! It’s not the first time we’ve seen the talented catering crew from Toy Town Carry Out, and hopefully not the last! These guys are amazing at what they do and have created some of the best homestyle southern cooking we’ve ever had at a wedding!
