Is it too early to be reminiscing about Courtney & Paul’s gorgeous winter Sanderling Resort wedding in Duck, NC? My answer for that is ABSOLUTELY NOT! With the humidity & hot temperatures here on the Outer Banks at the end of May, please take us back to 50 degree temperatures. Living at the beach has its amazing perks but I would say that Ryan and I aren’t your typical beach town dwellers. We love chilly weather, cozy blankets, and winter weddings!
I remember this day exactly and how we were a bit chilly and forgot our jackets. I looked at Ryan and said, “Babe, take this in because come June/July we will be wishing we had this weather”. Sure enough, we needed to write this blog today because we have been sweating it all out at the last couple of weddings. I also wanted to write this blog to show other couples that you don’t always need to have a spring, summer, or even fall wedding on the Outer Banks. The best part is that you will have the beaches all to yourself. What could be better than taking a brisk walk by the shore and you are the only person in sight! Also, the cost of traveling is significantly decreased as you are in the off season and most rental homes/hotels are more than half the cost of peak season pricing. Sometimes you will even luck out with off season rates from some of your vendors too. Another plus side to a winter wedding on the Outer Banks is that you get first pick of those amazing wedding vendors that you have been eyeing throughout the planning process which in return brings your dream wedding to life.
Courtney and Paul did just that. They planned the most wonderful winter Sanderling Resort wedding with shades of pink & cream. It was a very classy affair and the couple had Debbie from The Sanderling to help guide them in planning the most perfect day. Courtney looked stunning in her modern gown and beautiful white fur stole and my favorite Kate Spade shoes and Chanel necklace! I mean, I am still dying over her drop dead gorgeous look and her gorgeous hair and makeup by the talented ladies at Lovies! The trends tend to stay very tropical, botanical, and boho around these parts so when you have a bride who comes through with a very classy vibe, you take it all in! I love that she had this vision and it was a nice change of pace. The day was flawless with a gorgeous ceremony at Duck United Methodist Church and the most fun reception where the couple and all of their family and friends danced the night away to the wonderful Horizon Band. Shirley with Sugar Snap Events transformed the pavilion into the most gorgeous pink, ivory, and white dream with an awesome ending of exploding confetti canons! From the amazing cake by Great Cakes! to the beautiful linens rented from BBJ linens, all of the vendors involved were top notch. See the complete list of vendors below and hope that you love this wedding as much as we do!
