When Katherine and Joe contacted us about photographing their UVA Chapel wedding ceremony and Old Metropolitan Hall reception, we couldn’t have been more thrilled! These two amazing locations are absolutely beautiful!! The historic charm of the UVA chapel really set the mood for this gorgeous wedding on a strangely beautiful rainy day. This location for the ceremony really meant a lot to Katherine as it was the same location where her mother also had her wedding day. This lovely couple really proved that rain on your wedding day is definitely not the end of the world. We started our morning meeting Joe right at the chapel where we captured the moments before he saw his stunning bride walk down the aisle towards their new life together. Katherine was glowing when she arrived to the chapel and very excited to get the show on the road. We were very impressed with Katherine’s talent as she made her bouquet as well as some of the other floral arrangements used for the wedding. The fuchsia, purple, blue, and green color palette was gorgeous against her ivory wedding gown adorned with the most perfect crystal accents. As they spoke their vows to one another, you could not help but notice how happy both of their families were to witness them becoming husband and wife.
Following the ceremony, we were surrounded by so much historic architecture on the University of Virginia campus. Even though the rain was not cooperating at first, we were lucky enough to have captured such great images under the pillared overhang just a few feet away from the UVA Chapel.
The party kicked off at The Old Metropolitan hall directly after the ceremony as guests enjoyed drinks and a selection of heavy hors d’oeuvres provided by Whole Foods of Charlottesville. Katherine and Joe arrived to great their guests at their reception where they were introduced as husband and wife and shared a very special first dance together.
At the end of a fun filled afternoon of photographing this wonderful couple along with their family and friends, Katherine and Joe had their grand exit as their loved ones shot them (literally) with bubble guns! How much fun is that?
We were lucky enough to have extra time that afternoon to take them around Downtown Charlottesville and capture these beautiful images. We ended the afternoon following them to The Omni Hotel and shot these awesome elevator images as Katherine and Joe retired to their honeymoon suite. All in all, this wedding and this couple were perfect in every way and we couldn’t have been more thrilled to be a part of their big day!
